1. Introduction

Welcome to Study Ahead (referred to as "the App", "we", "our", or "us"). Study Ahead is a gamified academic revision application designed for secondary school students in India. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, particularly children under the age of 18.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we handle it, and the strict safety standards we maintain to ensure a secure, distraction-free environment for educational learning.

🛡️ 2. Children's Privacy & Safety (COPPA & DPDP Aligned)

Because Study Ahead targets students aged 10 to 18 years, our data processing protocols are strictly engineered to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act of India:

  • We DO NOT collect personal identification information (PII) from children.
  • We DO NOT use any geolocation trackers, persistent web-browsing identifiers, or social media SDKs.
  • We DO NOT permit third-party advertising networks within the App, preventing targeted advertising tracking.

3. Information We Collect (and How We Use It)

We collect the absolute minimum technical indicators necessary to maintain App functionality and deliver curriculum sync updates.

A. Locally Stored Data (Stored on Your Device Only)

To enable 100% offline study playback, the following data is saved locally in your device's persistent storage and is not transmitted to our servers:

  • Your profile settings (First Name/Alias, registered Class level, birth year, and gender selection).
  • Your study stats (current day streaks, total quizzes played, and average accuracy scores).
  • Your historical attempts log (quiz scores, dates played, and incorrect response histories).

B. Server-Side Diagnostic Indicators

When you are connected to the internet, our database backend (Supabase) registers only non-identifying telemetry metrics:

  • Unique Installation ID (installId): A random alphanumeric sequence generated automatically on setup to register the installation metric. This cannot be matched back to a real-world user identity.
  • Class Selection (classLevel):Recorded purely to help our educators understand which standards (e.g., "8th Class" or "10th Class") require more quiz updates.

4. Zero Advertising Policy

Study Ahead maintains a strict zero-advertisement policy. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising SDKs. The App is 100% free of commercial marketing wrappers, ensuring that children can focus on academic study without consumer exposure.

5. Data Hosting and Infrastructure Safety

The database services are managed using Supabase, hosted on secured cloud servers. Supabase employs end-to-end industry standard SSL/TLS encryption for all sync pipelines. Because we store no sensitive personal identifiers (like passwords, names, or contact lists), the risk of credentials leakage is minimized.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion Control

Users and parents hold complete control over their locally stored files. If you wish to completely wipe your study scores, streaks, and alias settings:

  1. Navigate to the Profile Screen inside the App.
  2. Scroll down to Account Management section at the very bottom.
  3. Click the red Reset Profile Data option and confirm. This immediately destroys all local profile records on the disk.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to match platform upgrades or regulatory standards. We recommend reviewing this document periodically. All revisions will be marked with an updated date at the top of this page.
